This is the “simple” tombstone/marker of John Michael McCormack (b. 1860 – d. 1929), my great grand uncle and his wife, Gertrude Angeline Peacock (b. 1865 – d. 1927), my great grand aunt.
The reason I said “simple” is that John Michael began his life as a stone mason and then owned a monument making company in Reno, Nevada around the beginning of the last century. Not something you would expect of a stonemason and owner of a monument company. John Michael and Gertrude are buried in Masonic Memorial Gardens in Reno, Nevada. You can see a picture of John Michael here, A Reno Nevada business tycoon! and checkout Amanuensis Monday – The Will of Gertrude Angeline Peacock McCormack for a picture of Gertrude. Thanks!
